A proof of concept that can go live

A proof of concept should answer one question and still be buildable afterward. We bring the idea to life on a slice of the real problem, not a slide.

The build is small on purpose. It includes the hard part, the data, or the integration that would make the idea fail, and it leaves out the rest.

When it fits

  • An idea needs an answer before it gets a budget.
  • The risk sits in one place: an integration, the data, or one hard technical step.
  • If the answer is yes, the code should not be thrown away.

How the work goes

  1. We write the question in one sentence, and the sign that would answer it.
  2. The build is only as wide as that question, and it includes the part that would make the idea fail.
  3. The code sits in a repository the team can open.
  4. If the answer is yes, the next step is a plan to harden it. If the answer is no, you keep a record of what was tried.

What you receive

  • A running slice of the idea, not a mock in a deck
  • The question it was built to answer, written down
  • A note on what would have to change before real users arrive

How to start

Send the idea and the question you want answered. Email it to info@developerlab.nl, or see the contact page for other ways to reach Puya Sarmidani.
